China India Institute was co-founded by Professor Dr. Anil K. Gupta and Ms. Haiyan Wang in early 2007 in Bethesda, Maryland, U.S.A.. Born in India and China respectively, they joined their passion and over 60 years of research, consulting, and global business management experiences to establish this organization.

Anil K. Gupta is widely recognized as one of the world's leading experts on global strategy and organization. He is the author of over sixty papers and three books: The Quest for Global Dominance, Smart Globalization, and Global Strategy and Organization. His invited opinion pieces have appeared in The Wall Street Journal, Financial Times, The Economic Times, and China Daily.

He is the Ralph J. Tyser Professor of Strategy and Organization at the Robert H. Smith School of Business, The University of Maryland at College Park. The recipient of numerous awards for excellence in research and teaching, he has been recognized by Business Week as an Outstanding Faculty in its Guide to the Best B-Schools, inducted into the Academy of Management Journals' Hall of Fame, and ranked by Management International Review as one of the "Top 20 North American Superstars" for research in strategy and organization. One of his papers was recognized as one of the ten most-often cited articles in the entire 40-year history of Academy of Management Journal....

 
Haiyan Wang

Haiyan Wang is Managing Partner of China India Institute. Along with Dr. Gupta, she is responsible for overseeing the organization's strategic direction, research and consulting focus, and all program activities.

She is the co-author of the newly released bookThe Quest for Global Dominance - 2nd Edition. Her other co-authored book The Battle for China and India will be published by Jossey-Bass in January 2009. Her opinion pieces have appeared in top international media such as The Wall Street Journal, The Economic Times, China Daily, and The Times of India .

A native of China, Ms Wang has spent the last twenty years consulting for and managing multinational business operations in China and the United States in several different industry sectors. Drawing on her broad international experience, she consults with clients and speaks at conferences on building and exploiting global presence, especially in China.
